Bangkok Day 3

On day 3 we went Pratunam Market to take a look-see and buy clothes! Clothes is a must-buy here. Coz if you are lucky enough, can bargain like mad! And anyway they are a wholesale market too, so buy more=more savings! Anyway it was a Sunday, and apparently a lot of the stall holders went Chaktuchak market, so it was pretty empty. Nevertheless, it's a place to get clothes, bikinis, more clothes...haha.

We split from C&S so that we could shop a bit ourselves. Contrary to what people say, although Pratunam has got this-fashion like clothes, ah-soh clothes, but there are also clothes for youngsters lar! Best of all it's quite near my hotel, so it was convenient to buy and then dump the things in the hotel.

I bought a bikini there for S$16 bucks. I think it was 400B. The material was good and it's the type you can go swmming in it lar. The lady was saying buy 3 or more can have more discount...but since I'm not a beachy kind of person, so I didn't buy more. Haha.

And later on we spotted this stall selling 2 tees for 100B. It's like 4 bucks for 2 tee-shirts! Haha. The tees are the likes of Emily the Strange, Oopsy Daisy, plus many guy robotic graphics which I dunno but clement and S were gushing over it. All fake one lar! But of course who cares right. 2 bucks for a tee-shirt leh. Where to find elsewhere?!

Clement and I bought 4 tees each so it was like 8 between the 2 of us. C&S were more li hai...they bought 6 tees each so they had 12!!! Clement was saying having to lug all the tees around can die man...and I agreed lar. Haha. Our plan was actually to go back hotel and dump the tees, but then we didn't have the chance to because in the end it was raining and we had to take cab because we had no brolly. So take cab might as well go further right? So for the rest of the day clement lug 8 tees around lor...hehe.

Well, after the Pratunam market we went to the Baiyoke Sky Hotel to take a look. Wondering whether to eat their dim sum buffet or not, only to find out that it was already 1.30pm and their buffet ends at 2pm. So of course not worth it, so we didn't. But I had long wanted to visit the tower to take a look, so we all went up! Think C&S didn't really want to, but in the end they still did...hehe.

That's Us!

Architectural Model of the Hotel!

By the way, the hotel looked so grand and posh. We thought it was 5-star hotel initially, till I did a search and realised that it was actually 4-star. Then again, my hotel is a 3-star hotel but it feels like a 4-star already. We all concluded that must level up all the hotels lar...haha.

2 Distant Views from the Gallery
Isn't it amazing!? There's dark clouds in the foreground and sunlight in the horizon. So interesting deshou...

Our Hotel!
We spotted our hotel! So exciting!!

Thailand's Network of Expressways

Raining!!
You could actually see the rain inching in. The bottom picture is all the rain in the horizon!

1st Day of Shopping! Click on picture to view a larger one!

We went to this area on our 1st day!
  • Big C Supermarket is where the miniatures of all the shower stuffs possible can be found.
  • Isetan was where we spent 5000B at one go! Fuji restaurant is here too.
  • WTC is the place that I went on the last day...it has Thailand's own departmental stall, called Central.
  • The nearest skytrain station from my hotel...(10min walk though)
  • Bridge: Where I saw the old man beggar crawling on the ground.
  • 5-Star Hotel: The Amari Watergate Hotel! Where my accountant friend is gonna stay for her training in BKK. Lucky girl!

Together in a Photo!

So Sweet Right?
I personally love this photo a lot.

Taken at their Photo Corner It was truncated though...

We went MBK (Mah Boon Krong) after that. MBK is one of BKK's biggest shopping centers! Can shop till you drop and you still won't finish it! Haha. Again by the time we were done at the Baiyoke it was already afternoon...so we took a cab, went to the 1st foodie place we saw...that happened to be MacDonald's. Haha. So in the end we ate there lor. And that's how I got the plastic cup!

Their MacDonald had stuffs we don't have in Singapore. Like their salad...it's served in a cup! The kind of cup you get when you buy ice-blended lor...complete with the transparent cap. Thought it was pretty cute. And then they had Samurai burger which S and clement happily bought. The 2 guys ah, are lovers of such "exotic" burgers. Heh~ Anyway their MacDonald was very cheap lar. Worth eating. Haha.

Anyway their Ronald MacDonald is very cute lar! You know those Ronald MacDonald statues we see outside some outlets of MacDonald's in Singapore? They have that statue too! But...look on.

Sawadee Krup!!!

Their Ronald has the palms-together pose. So stylo right? Kaypoh me couldn't help it but take photo with him lor. So funny.

Yup...so after that we split from C&S again lar. Shopping mah...better to shop outside a group. We walked around lor...they have Tops Supermarket there. So vintage! Tops already closed down in Singapore some time ago liao. Their toilets must pay though...1B per entry. Cheap cheap. Anyway they put notices like "we have sanitizers, toilet paper, soap in the toilet" to reassure people that the 1B is worth paying?! Haha. Anyway it's still cheap enough so it's okay. I like clean toilets and I'm glad they bother lar. lol~

On the 3rd or 4th floor I think it was like Heeren Annex...and they sell a lot of things lar, albeit at more expensive prices compared to those wholesale markets we have been to the last few days. So in the end we also didn't buy much lor. Heh. Met C&S there too and they were lamenting that they rather go Chaktuchat again...can bargain and so cheap. Haha. Yeah I think so too leh...

Anyway I got myself a pair of crop pants...it's A&F one leh. But of course it's fake lar. Haha. Anyway the way they fake it is darn real lor...it has all the labels, and the workmanship was good, and then even the price tag also A&F one. So li hai right! Their counterfeit industry is damn happening lar...haha.

The whole transaction was damn funny lar...because actually I was only bioing it..and then I asked the lady how much..she told me 750B lor. So I just nodded my head then left le...quite expensive in my opinion mah. Haha. So as we both walked away the lady suddenly called after us, "You want to try? You like I give you discount."

That did the trick! So I turned back and ask her, "how much discount you give me?" Very buay paiseh right! But I heck care lor, must thick-skin a bit mah. She replied 600B.

Wah! Cheapo me hear she give 150B discount happy liao lor..so I happily go and try. They seemed to be doing a roaring trade man...there were so many ang-mohs trying on their clothes. Haha. So I guess the stall quite popular eh? And there were so many stores around too...all say same boss...lol. So I took the clothing from this store, go to another one and try lor.

At first I tried that one was too loose! I seriously thought I am damn fat liao...asked for L size. In the end cannot wear lor. Then somemore kena chased out of the dressing room because another ang-moh got chased out before me needed to change back. So, holding up the pants, I went to yet another store to try a smaller size lor. Then hor...I happened to tear the button from the pants while trying to wear it. And the very bad me came out and told her that the button spoiled. But I didn't say I made it spoil. Tee-hee~

She happily said if it fits she will get me another pair lor. And she did! Haha. This time she opened all the buttons and zips...and clement checked it before we decide how much we want to pay. Now ah, is another lady liao...so we were wondering whether can pay cheaper or not. Haha. So clement tried to bargain with her lor. She said 750B we said 500B. Very greedy hor. LoL~ Then she said 700B lowest. And then clement was no...550B. And then she exclaim,"cannot, you so special..." Then I butt in lor...say just not the woman already promise 600B. Then the girl say,"okay 600B already. You so special!" Didn't know what she meant leh...but we paid up.

Then I overheard the same woman (who gave us the discount in the 1st place) using the same tactic on another potential customer wor. Damn funny lar. Because the woman's discount give how much the guy also dun want. Then the woman say, "You give me a price, I see can or not." So stylo right! Early I know I also should play hard to get man. Haha. Then can even get more discount!!! Hehe.

Anyway after that we walked around a bit lor, had dinner at a Teppanyaki restaurant! The restaurant was called the Oishi I think. My Thai colleague (when I was on IA) introduced one. So me and clement went to eat. They had ramen stall and the Teppanyaki one. So of course we took the Teppanyaki one! More special since we don't eat it in Singapore lor.

They have foodcourts too...but the foodcourt must buy vouchers first, then exchange for food. Then there's also a buffet in the middle of the foodcourt too. Jap buffet I think. Clement and I walked around it wondering whether we should eat it or not. Hehe. In the end we decided not to because we wanna save our stomachs for later!

So after our dinner we walked around too...then went to this level...which sells all kinds of cosmetics. It has cosmetics and skincare...like Lancome, Estee Lauder, Clinique...those kind of shopping centre brands lar! Also went to asked about my mom's shampoo...but they sell it more expensive here. So since I was almost-broke, didn't buy lor. Then they also have sunglasses for 199B (S$8), was tempted to buy 1, somemore they claim it's polarised...haha. Dunno how true lar, but S$8 for a pair quite cheap in my opinion. Somemore still can bargain lor. So many stalls, sure got 1 willing to give cheaper price.

But in the end I didn't buy because I couldn't find a nice enough 1 for myself. Haha. And then clement bought his PS2 games again. All those games he liked were in Japanese lor..so cannot buy. Don't understand hard to play leh. But there was 1 or 2 which he bought for his brother...they were in English lor. Anyway the place as long as it sells electronics can buy game discs one. Got real and fake one. Haha. Clement commented that we should visit M'sia again...because in the end we concluded that M'sia DVDs/Games are still cheaper.

And then we went to this level with a lot a lot of mobile phone stalls. You know, it's so many it's so amazing. It's like a mini sim lim square on that level. Each "stall" is a glass display case with all kinds of hp and pda and then above hanging will be the list of hp numbers available by the stall. That's supposed to be their "golden" numbers I presume? And yup, there were at least 30-40 hp dealers in that small area alone. It was amazing...you really have to see it to believe it. And their hp prices are competitive one...they like to put 3??? meaning you can negotiate...3000B and above lor. So smart. And so you can bargain until you get a hp that is priced to your liking.

After escaping from there we went to the smaller shops lor...and clement bought himself a shirt. Think it was 200B or 300B. But anyway cheapo clement says it's within his budget and since the material so good...dun buy also wasted. Met C&S at the shop too...guess what? They already bought more than they can afford to carry so they left their stuffs at some shop until later when we meet then go and collect. So li hai sia... So they were happily walking empty handed unlike us. But we didn't buy that many things so it was okay too!!

We went to their top levels I think, then there was the cinema. It's called EGV (does it reminds you of our own GV?). And then there were cosmic bowling alley nearby, lots of restaurants, and then we found this ktv box!! It operates like our Kbox, but, unlike KBox where you have lots of privacy, this one you don't. It's a transparent-glass room with a tv, and lots of comfy cushions/sofa. And the room is like in the middle of nowhere one. There were a few....so a few in the line like that lor...and it's a round room. People outside can look inside...but of course can't hear very clearly. For some reason it's pretty sound proof. Interesting concept huh.

And nearby were some star wars figurines and we decided to photo-whore a bit. Hehe.

Garfield and Alien! So nua can?

All Star Wars? Apart from the right bottom corner bah...

Clement's turn to photo-whore!!!

Clement with Star Wars! And Garfield! He looks kinda tall sending beside the figurines man...

After that we met up with C&S and then went back hotel!! We saw their magnitude of shopping...and I couldn't believe it. It was damn li hai! Haha. Anyway we filled the car boot lor.

Anyway when we took the cab there was a little bit of problem. Because the taxi driver ran on meter, he seemed like he went 1 big round before reaching our hotel. And actually we were quite happy to be going back...in the end got more and more scared sia. Then clement was like, "reach hotel everyone at the back get out and take the things, I settle with the driver." He spoke to us in chinese lar. So that the driver won't understand.

And so we did, after the taxi finally reached our hotel, there was a scramble to get out lor. Haha. Quite proud of clement though...it's like he took charge of everything so we didn't have to worry lor. Some way along the trip I thought he quite ma fan, like a kor kor bringing out didi and mei mei...because he's the oldest mah. So have to take care of all of us. But it's okay lar, most of the time he was like our tour guide. Haha.

After the money settled le, C suggested that we go for foot reflexology!!! Yup yup! That's what we desperately needed. Been shopping for the whole day until can DIE. And so we did, went back to the hotel to dump things, and met again at the lobby to go for foot reflexology. There's one just 2 min walk away...so convenient right! Clement went to that one too the last time he came BKK. And so we made our way there. There were already people in the shop...they close at 1AM! So good...we went there around 10 like that. They brought us to this section whereby the 4 of us could sit together in a row lor...and then our massage began.

C and I were wondering if it would be painful or not..haha. And when her masseuse came...she asked her whether is it going to be pain...the masseuse of course said no lar...haha. Then she said, "please be merciful!" and the 3 of us laughed. She so cute sia. And we also asked how long it would take...the lady said 1 hr...and we went like, 30 mins can or not? The lady say 30 mins no effect. LoL~ They very truthful wor. *impressed*

So we had the massage lor...quite shiok wor...they will scrub the leg down...even the flats of the feet. Then we all start laughing because it was so ticklish lar. My masseuse was smiling along with me too. They all very nice wor...my masseuse will massage my leg, and then ask pain or not...in chinese!! She actually speaks chinese! Quite shocked.

S had a male masseuse...and that guy was probably stronger lor...he made S contort into funny positions sia...buay tahan. Then C and I were like, "oh no!" So though we were awaiting our fate but in the end, luckily we didn't kenna that..maybe because S is a guy so got more things? haha. They not only massaged our legs actually, they also massaged our hands, back, head...their service good eh!

So after the whole massage thing was so shiok! And to think it's called foot massage (or something like that). Actually I don't know what kind of massage did they asked for..maybe it's a standard massage that they give all their customers bah...

We felt rejuvenated! Haha. After that clement recommended this roadside stall nearby (another 1 min walk) that sells very nice pat thai. It's like our cha kway teow...only that it's much nicer and pink in colour. LoL~ He said the other time he came BKK he also had it. Haha. So we bought 2 packs lor...1 for us and 1 for C&S. Then S doesn't like tau gay(beansprouts)...so have to tell the aunty. Thing is, the aunty didn't know English so we had a bit of problem trying to explain sia. Haha. We ordered 2 packs, 1 with chili no tau gay, 1 without chili with tau gay. So the aunty cooked 2 portions liao...asked us which 1 put chili..we were still trying to signal her with tau gay and chili...luckily the aunty got it. Haha.

So we buy back and eat in the comforts of our hotel room!! It was very very nice!! I told clement next time we can stay at Eastin again so that we can eat nice pat thai every night. Clement didn't like our location of hotel because he thought it was too far from everywhere else le. I didn't think so though...felt that even the walking is just nice...not far lar...

With the nice pat thai, this is the end of our 3rd day.
